Website Builder
Website Builder
Create a static website from ready-made blocks, customize it visually, and publish it directly to an X Systems web server.
Beta and currently free
The Website Builder is in beta and is currently free to use with an active X Systems web hosting server.
What the builder includes
| Feature | Current support |
|---|---|
| Blocks | 45 blocks split across 9 categories, with 5 blocks in every category. |
| Pages | Create a home page and additional pages with their own names and URL paths. |
| Editing | Change text, buttons, links, images, colors, fonts, spacing, alignment, layout, and roundness. |
| Preview | Switch between desktop and mobile previews while building. |
| History | Undo and redo recent builder changes. |
| Publishing | Save drafts or publish the generated site directly to the selected web server. |
Before you start
- You need an active X Systems web hosting server.
- The selected server should be used for a static website.
- You need a Pterodactyl Client API key the first time you connect the builder.
- Download a separate copy of important files before replacing an existing website.
Connect the builder
- 1Open Website Builder from the web hosting dashboard.
- 2Open the Pterodactyl panel and create a Client API key from your account settings.
- 3Paste the key into the builder connection screen and save it.
- 4The builder checks the key, stores it securely, and hides it after it is saved.
- 5Select the web server where the website should be created.
Build your first page
- 1Open a block category on the left side.
- 2Click a block to add it to the current page.
- 3Select the added block and change its content and design settings.
- 4Drag blocks into the order you want. You can also duplicate or remove them.
- 5Open Pages to add more pages or change the site-wide design settings.
- 6Use Save to keep a draft, or Publish to update the live website.
What gets published
The builder writes the website into the server's /public folder. The home page becomes /public/index.html. Other pages are created as folders, such as /public/about/index.html, so the live URL can use /about.
Shared builder styles and assets are stored in /public/xsystems-builder. A successful publish also restarts the selected web server so the new files are loaded.
